16 But they kept ridiculing God’s messengers,(A) despising His words,(B) and scoffing at His prophets, until the Lord’s wrath was so stirred up against His people that there was no remedy.(C) 17 So He brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans,(D) who killed their choice young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary. He had no pity on young men or young women, elderly or aged; He handed them all over to him. 18 He took everything to Babylon—all the articles of God’s temple, large and small, the treasures of the Lord’s temple, and the treasures of the king and his officials.

16 But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed(A) at his prophets until the wrath(B) of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy.(C) 17 He brought up against them the king of the Babylonians,[a](D) who killed their young men with the sword in the sanctuary, and did not spare young men(E) or young women, the elderly or the infirm.(F) God gave them all into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar.(G) 18 He carried to Babylon all the articles(H) from the temple of God, both large and small, and the treasures of the Lord’s temple and the treasures of the king and his officials.
