5 He built altars to all the stars in the sky in both courtyards(A) of the Lord’s temple. 6 He passed his sons through the fire in Ben Hinnom Valley.(B) He practiced witchcraft, divination, and sorcery, and consulted mediums and spiritists.(C) He did a huge amount of evil in the Lord’s sight, angering him.
7 Manasseh(D) set up a carved image of the idol, which he had made, in God’s temple(E) that God had spoken about to David and his son Solomon: “I will establish my name forever[a](F) in this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.(G)

5 In both courts of the temple of the Lord,(A) he built altars to all the starry hosts. 6 He sacrificed his children(B) in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums(C) and spiritists.(D) He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger.
7 He took the image he had made and put it in God’s temple,(E) of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever.
