2 Chronicles 28:19-21

19 For the Lord brought Judah low because of Ahaz king of Israel, for Ahaz had dealt with reckless cruelty against Judah and had been faithless [had transgressed sorely] against the Lord.
20 So Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria came to him and distressed him without strengthening him.
21 For Ahaz took [treasure] from the house of the Lord and out of the house of the king and from the princes and gave it as tribute to the king of Assyria, but it did not help Ahaz.

New International Version
19 The Lord had humbled Judah because of Ahaz king of Israel,[a] for he had promoted wickedness in Judah and had been most unfaithful(A) to the Lord. 20 Tiglath-Pileser[b](B) king of Assyria(C) came to him, but he gave him trouble(D) instead of help.(E) 21 Ahaz(F) took some of the things from the temple of the Lord and from the royal palace and from the officials and presented them to the king of Assyria, but that did not help him.(G)
