²¹ But they conspired against him and stoned him at the king’s command in the courtyard of the Lord’s temple.^(A)

¹² Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted^(A) the prophets who were before you.^(B)

³⁴ This is why I am sending you prophets,^(A) sages, and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues^(B) and pursue from town to town.
