12 So the Lord defeated the Ethiopians[a] before Asa and before Judah, and the Ethiopians[b] fled. 13 Asa and the army with him pursued them as far as Gerar, and the Ethiopians[c] fell until no one remained alive; for they were broken before the Lord and his army. The people of Judah[d] carried away a great quantity of booty. 14 They defeated all the cities around Gerar, for the fear of the Lord was on them. They plundered all the cities; for there was much plunder in them.

12 The Lord struck down(A) the Cushites before Asa and Judah. The Cushites fled, 13 and Asa and his army pursued them as far as Gerar.(B) Such a great number of Cushites fell that they could not recover; they were crushed(C) before the Lord and his forces. The men of Judah carried off a large amount of plunder.(D) 14 They destroyed all the villages around Gerar, for the terror(E) of the Lord had fallen on them. They looted all these villages, since there was much plunder there.
