3 And Abijah began the battle with a military force of mighty men, 400,000 chosen men, while Jeroboam arranged them all for battle against him with 800,000 chosen men who were mighty men of valor.

4 Then Abijah rose up on Mount (A)Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Listen to me, Jeroboam and all Israel: 5 Do you not know that (B)Yahweh, the God of Israel, gave the rule over Israel forever to David [a]and his sons by (C)a covenant of salt?

3 Abijah went into battle with an army of four hundred thousand able fighting men, and Jeroboam drew up a battle line against him with eight hundred thousand able troops.
4 Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim,(A) in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, “Jeroboam and all Israel,(B) listen to me! 5 Don’t you know that the Lord, the God of Israel, has given the kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever(C) by a covenant of salt?(D)
