10 As Samuel was offering burnt offerings, the Philistines approached to do battle with Israel.[a] But on that day the Lord thundered loudly against the Philistines. He caused them to panic, and they were defeated by[b] Israel.

10 While Samuel was sacrificing the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to engage Israel in battle. But that day the Lord thundered(A) with loud thunder against the Philistines and threw them into such a panic(B) that they were routed before the Israelites.
