⁹ You have done more evil^(A) than all who lived before you.^(B) You have made for yourself other gods, idols^(C) made of metal; you have aroused^(D) my anger and turned your back on me.^(E)

¹⁰ “‘Because of this, I am going to bring disaster^(F) on the house of Jeroboam. I will cut off from Jeroboam every last male in Israel—slave or free.^[a](G) I will burn up the house of Jeroboam as one burns dung, until it is all gone.^(H)

16 Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu^(A) son of Hanani^(B) concerning Baasha: ² “I lifted you up from the dust^(C) and appointed you ruler^(D) over my people Israel, but you followed the ways of Jeroboam and caused^(E) my people Israel to sin and to arouse my anger by their sins. ³ So I am about to wipe out Baasha^(F) and his house,^(G) and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

³² Go ahead, then, and complete^(A) what your ancestors started!^(B)

³³ “You snakes! You brood of vipers!^(C) How will you escape being condemned to hell?^{(D) 34} Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify;^(E) others you will flog in your synagogues^(F) and pursue from town to town.^{(G) 35} And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel^(H) to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah,^(I) whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.^{(J) 36} Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.^(K)
