2 An overseer,(A) therefore, must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, self-controlled, sensible,(B) respectable, hospitable,(C) an able teacher,[a] 3 not addicted to wine, not a bully but gentle, not quarrelsome, not greedy(D)— 4 one who manages his own household competently, having his children under control with all dignity.

2 Now the overseer is to be above reproach,(A) faithful to his wife,(B) temperate,(C) self-controlled, respectable, hospitable,(D) able to teach,(E) 3 not given to drunkenness,(F) not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome,(G) not a lover of money.(H) 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect.(I)
