2 To (A)Timothy, (B)my genuine child in the faith: (C)Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and (D)Christ Jesus our Lord.
3 As I exhorted you when going to (E)Macedonia, [a]remain on at (F)Ephesus so that you may command certain ones not to (G)teach a different doctrine, 4 nor to [b]pay attention to (H)myths and endless (I)genealogies, which give rise to mere (J)speculation rather than furthering (K)the stewardship from God which is by faith.

3 As I urged you when I went into Macedonia,(D) stay there in Ephesus(E) so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines(F) any longer 4 or to devote themselves to myths(G) and endless genealogies.(H) Such things promote controversial speculations(I) rather than advancing God’s work—which is by faith.
