1 Thessalonians 4:6-8
Common English Bible
6 No one should mistreat or take advantage of their brother or sister in this issue. The Lord punishes people for all these things, as we told you before and sternly warned you. 7 God didn’t call us to be immoral but to be dedicated to him.[a] 8 Therefore, whoever rejects these instructions isn’t rejecting a human authority. They are rejecting God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.

New International Version
6 and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister.[a](A) The Lord will punish(B) all those who commit such sins,(C) as we told you and warned you before. 7 For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.(D) 8 Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.(E)
