2 and sent Timothy, our brother and [a]God’s minister in the [b]gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith; 3 that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed. 4 For verily, when we were with you, we told you [c]beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

2 We sent Timothy,(A) who is our brother and co-worker(B) in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ,(C) to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, 3 so that no one would be unsettled by these trials.(D) For you know quite well that we are destined for them.(E) 4 In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know.(F)
