5 For neither were we at any time found using words of flattery, as you know, nor a cloak of covetousness (God is witness), 6 nor seeking glory from men (neither from you nor from others), when we might have claimed authority as apostles of Christ. 7 But we were gentle among you, like a nursing mother cherishes her own children.

5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed(A)—God is our witness.(B) 6 We were not looking for praise from people,(C) not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles(D) of Christ we could have asserted our authority.(E) 7 Instead, we were like young children[a] among you.
Just as a nursing mother cares for her children,(F)
