1 Thessalonians 2:5-7

5 As you know and as God is our witness, we never came with words of flattery or with a pretext for greed; 6 nor did we seek praise from mortals, whether from you or from others, 7 though we might have made demands as apostles of Christ. But we were gentle[a] among you, like a nurse tenderly caring for her own children.

5 You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed(A)—God is our witness.(B) 6 We were not looking for praise from people,(C) not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles(D) of Christ we could have asserted our authority.(E) 7 Instead, we were like young children[a] among you.
