4 Then all the leaders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “See, you have grown old, and your sons do not walk in your ways. Choose a king to rule over us like all the nations.” 6 But Samuel was not pleased when they said, “Give us a king to rule over us.” And Samuel prayed to the Lord.

New International Version
4 So all the elders(A) of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah.(B) 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king(C) to lead[a](D) us, such as all the other nations(E) have.”
6 But when they said, “Give us a king(F) to lead us,” this displeased(G) Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord.
