David said to Abiathar the priest, son of Ahimelech, “Bring me the ephod.”(A) So Abiathar brought it to him, and David asked the Lord:(B) “Should I pursue these raiders? Will I overtake them?”(C)

The Lord replied to him, “Pursue them, for you will certainly overtake them and rescue the people.”(D)

David and the 600 men with him(E) went as far as the Wadi Besor, where 200 men who were to remain behind would stop.(F)

Then David said to Abiathar(A) the priest, the son of Ahimelek, “Bring me the ephod.(B)” Abiathar brought it to him, and David inquired(C) of the Lord, “Shall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?”

“Pursue them,” he answered. “You will certainly overtake them and succeed(D) in the rescue.(E)

David and the six hundred men(F) with him came to the Besor Valley, where some stayed behind.
