17 The Lord has done to you as he spoke by me, for (A)the Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, David. 18 (B)Because you did not obey the voice of the Lord and did not carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, therefore the Lord has done this thing to you this day.

17 The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn(A) the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors—to David. 18 Because you did not obey(B) the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath(C) against the Amalekites,(D) the Lord has done this to you today.
