19 Then she said unto her servants, Go ye before me: behold, I will come after you: yet she told not her [a]husband Nabal.
20 And as she rode on her ass, she came down by a secret place of the mountain, and behold, David and his men came down against her, and she met them.
21 And David said, Indeed I have kept all in vain that this fellow had in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: for he hath requited me evil for good.

19 Then she told her servants, “Go on ahead;(A) I’ll follow you.” But she did not tell(B) her husband Nabal.
20 As she came riding her donkey into a mountain ravine, there were David and his men descending toward her, and she met them. 21 David had just said, “It’s been useless—all my watching over this fellow’s property in the wilderness so that nothing of his was missing.(C) He has paid(D) me back evil(E) for good.
