12 David’s men turned and went on[a] their way. They came back and told David[b] everything. 13 David told his men, “Put on your swords.” They put on their swords, and David put on his sword. Then about 400 men followed David, while 200 stayed with the supplies.

12 David’s men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word. 13 David said to his men(A), “Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went(B) up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.(C)
14 One of the servants told Abigail, Nabal’s wife, “David sent messengers from the wilderness to give our master his greetings,(D) but he hurled insults at them.
