11 Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my [a]flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men of whom I know not whence they are? 12 So David’s young men turned on their way, and went back, and came and told him according to all these words. 13 And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the baggage.

11 Why should I take my bread(A) and water, and the meat I have slaughtered for my shearers, and give it to men coming from who knows where?”
12 David’s men turned around and went back. When they arrived, they reported every word. 13 David said to his men(B), “Each of you strap on your sword!” So they did, and David strapped his on as well. About four hundred men went(C) up with David, while two hundred stayed with the supplies.(D)
