It was reported to Saul that David had come to Keilah, and Saul said, “The Lord has delivered[a] him into my hand because he has shut himself in by going into a town with double gates and bars.” Saul summoned for battle all his forces[b] to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

David knew that Saul was devising evil plans against him, and so he told Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod.”

Saul Pursues David

Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah, and he said, “God has delivered him into my hands,(A) for David has imprisoned himself by entering a town with gates and bars.”(B) And Saul called up all his forces for battle, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.
