⁵ So David told him, “Look, tomorrow is the New Moon,^(A) and I’m supposed to sit down and eat with the king.^(B) Instead, let me go, and I’ll hide in the countryside for the next two nights.^[a](C)

³¹ Whenever burnt offerings are offered to the Lord on the Sabbaths, New Moons,^(A) and appointed festivals, they are to offer them regularly in the Lord’s presence according to the number prescribed for them.^(B)

⁴ Now I am building a temple for the name of the Lord my God in order to dedicate it to him for burning fragrant incense before him,^(A) for displaying the rows of the Bread of the Presence continuously,^(B) and for sacrificing burnt offerings for the morning and the evening,^(C) the Sabbaths^(D) and the New Moons, and the appointed festivals of the Lord our God. This is ordained for Israel permanently.

⁵ After that, they offered the regular burnt offering and the offerings for the beginning of each month^[a](A) and for all the Lord’s appointed holy occasions, as well as the freewill offerings brought to^[b] the Lord.

¹⁷ Then the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings for the festivals, New Moons, and Sabbaths—for all the appointed times of the house of Israel—will be the prince’s responsibility. He will provide the sin offerings, grain offerings, burnt offerings, and fellowship offerings to make atonement on behalf of the house of Israel.

⁶ On the day of the New Moon, the burnt offering is to be a young, unblemished bull, as well as six lambs and a ram without blemish.

¹⁶ Therefore, don’t let anyone judge^(A) you in regard to food and drink^(B) or in the matter of a festival or a new moon^(C) or a Sabbath day.^[a]
