46 Today the Lord will let me defeat you. I will kill you. I will cut off your head and feed your body to the birds and wild animals. And we will do the same thing to all the other Philistines too. Then all the world will know there is a God in Israel. 47 All the people gathered here will know that the Lord doesn’t need swords or spears to save people. The battle belongs to the Lord, and he will help us defeat all of you.”
48 Goliath the Philistine started to attack David. He slowly walked closer and closer toward David, but David ran out to meet Goliath.

46 This day the Lord will deliver(A) you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses(B) of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world(C) will know that there is a God in Israel.(D) 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword(E) or spear that the Lord saves;(F) for the battle(G) is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him.
