17 And there came out of the host of the Philistines [a]three bands to destroy, one band turned unto the way of Ophrah unto the land of Shual,

18 And another band turned toward the way to Beth Horon, and the [b]third band turned toward the way of the coast that looketh toward the valley of Zeboim, toward the wilderness.

19 Then there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears.

17 Raiding(A) parties went out from the Philistine camp in three detachments. One turned toward Ophrah(B) in the vicinity of Shual, 18 another toward Beth Horon,(C) and the third toward the borderland overlooking the Valley of Zeboyim(D) facing the wilderness.

19 Not a blacksmith(E) could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!(F)
