13 “You fool!” Samuel exclaimed. “You have disobeyed the commandment of the Lord your God. He was planning to make you and your descendants kings of Israel forever, 14 but now your dynasty must end; for the Lord wants a man who will obey him. And he has discovered the man he wants and has already appointed him as king over his people; for you have not obeyed the Lord’s commandment.”

15 Samuel then left Gilgal and went to Gibeah in the land of Benjamin.

When Saul counted the soldiers who were still with him, he found only six hundred left!

13 “You have done a foolish thing,(A)” Samuel said. “You have not kept(B) the command the Lord your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.(C) 14 But now your kingdom(D) will not endure; the Lord has sought out a man after his own heart(E) and appointed(F) him ruler(G) of his people, because you have not kept(H) the Lord’s command.”

15 Then Samuel left Gilgal[a] and went up to Gibeah(I) in Benjamin, and Saul counted the men who were with him. They numbered about six hundred.(J)
