8 (A) After Jacob went to Egypt, your ancestors cried out to the Lord for help, and he sent Moses and Aaron. They brought your ancestors out of Egypt and led them here to settle this land. 9 (B) But your ancestors forgot the Lord, so he let them be defeated by the Philistines, the king of Moab, and Sisera, the commander of Hazor's army.
10 (C)(D) Again your ancestors cried out to the Lord for help. They said, “We have sinned! We stopped worshiping you, our Lord, and started worshiping Baal and Astarte. But now, if you rescue us from our enemies, we will worship you.”

8 “After Jacob(A) entered Egypt, they cried(B) to the Lord for help, and the Lord sent(C) Moses and Aaron, who brought your ancestors out of Egypt and settled them in this place.
9 “But they forgot(D) the Lord their God; so he sold them(E) into the hand of Sisera,(F) the commander of the army of Hazor,(G) and into the hands of the Philistines(H) and the king of Moab,(I) who fought against them. 10 They cried(J) out to the Lord and said, ‘We have sinned; we have forsaken(K) the Lord and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths.(L) But now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve you.’
