5 But they will have to explain about what they have done. They must explain to God who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 The Good News was preached to those who are now dead. By their dying, they were judged like all men. But the Good News was preached to them so that they could live in the spirit as God lives.
Use God’s Gifts Wisely
7 The time is near when all things will end. So keep your minds clear, and control yourselves. Then you will be able to pray.

5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.(A) 6 For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead,(B) so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit.
7 The end of all things is near.(C) Therefore be alert and of sober mind(D) so that you may pray.
