⁹ And they will say, ‘^(A)Because they forsook the Lord their God, who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and adopted other gods and worshiped them and served them, therefore the Lord has brought all this adversity on them.’”

^18 (A)Did not your fathers do the same, so that our God brought on us and on this city all this trouble? Yet you are adding to the wrath on Israel by profaning the sabbath.”

² “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘You yourselves have seen all the calamity that I have brought on Jerusalem and all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are in ^(A)ruins and no one lives in them,

¹¹ Indeed ^(A)all Israel has transgressed Your law and turned aside, not obeying Your voice; so the ^(B)curse has been poured out on us, along with the oath which is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, for we have sinned against Him. ¹² Thus He has ^(C)confirmed His words which He had spoken against us and against our ^[a](D)rulers who ruled us, to bring on us great calamity; for under the whole heaven there has ^(E)not been done anything like what was done to Jerusalem.
