1 Kings 8:7-9
1599 Geneva Bible
7 For the Cherubims stretched out their wings over the place of the Ark, and the Cherubims covered the Ark, and the bars thereof above.
8 And they [a]drew out the bars, that the ends of the bars might appear out of the Sanctuary before the oracle, but they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
9 Nothing was in the Ark [b]save the two tables of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

New International Version
7 The cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed(A) the ark and its carrying poles. 8 These poles were so long that their ends could be seen from the Holy Place in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are still there today.(B) 9 There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets(C) that Moses had placed in it at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the Israelites after they came out of Egypt.
