38 then when the people realize their sin and pray toward this Temple, 39 hear them from heaven and forgive and answer all who have made an honest confession; for you know each heart. 40 In this way they will always learn to reverence you as they continue to live in this land that you have given their fathers.

New International Version
38 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of the afflictions of their own hearts, and spreading out their hands(A) toward this temple— 39 then hear(B) from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive(C) and act; deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know(D) their hearts (for you alone know every human heart), 40 so that they will fear(E) you all the time they live in the land(F) you gave our ancestors.
