¹² “Concerning this ^[a]temple which you are building, ^(A)if you walk in My statutes, execute My judgments, keep all My commandments, and walk in them, then I will perform My ^[b]word with you, ^(B)which I spoke to your father David.

¹⁹ Nevertheless ^(A)you shall not build the temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the temple for My name.’ ²⁰ So the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; and I have ^[a]filled the position of my father David, and sit on the throne of Israel, ^(B)as the Lord promised; and I have built a temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel. ²¹ And there I have made a place for the ark, in which is ^(C)the covenant of the Lord which He made with our fathers, when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”

^9 (A)Behold, a son shall be born to you, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him ^(B)rest from all his enemies all around. His name shall be ^[a]Solomon, for I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days. ^10 (C)He shall build a house for My name, and ^(D)he shall be My son, and I will be his Father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever.’ ¹¹ Now, my son, may ^(E)the Lord be with you; and may you prosper, and build the house of the Lord your God, as He has said to you. ¹² Only may the Lord ^(F)give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge concerning Israel, that you may keep the law of the Lord your God. ^13 (G)Then you will prosper, if you take care to fulfill the statutes and judgments with which the Lord ^[b]charged Moses concerning Israel. ^(H)Be strong and of good courage; do not fear nor be dismayed.

²⁰ And David said to his son Solomon, ^(A)“Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. ^(B)He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
