2 Solomon then sent this message to Hiram: 3 “You know that my father David was unable to build a temple to honor the Lord[a] his God, for he was busy fighting battles on all fronts while the Lord subdued his enemies.[b] 4 But now the Lord my God has made me secure on all fronts; there is no adversary or dangerous threat.

2 Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:
3 “You know that because of the wars(A) waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build(B) a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.(C) 4 But now the Lord my God has given me rest(D) on every side, and there is no adversary(E) or disaster.
