2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “(A)So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your [a]life as the [b]life of one of them by tomorrow about this time.” 3 And he [c]was afraid and arose and ran for his [d]life and came to (B)Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there. 4 But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a [e]juniper tree; and (C)he requested for himself that he might die, and said, “It is enough; now, O Lord, take my [f]life, for I am not better than my fathers.”

New International Version
2 So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely,(A) if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”(B)
3 Elijah was afraid[a] and ran(C) for his life.(D) When he came to Beersheba(E) in Judah, he left his servant there, 4 while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush,(F) sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life;(G) I am no better than my ancestors.”
