Elijah and the Drought

17 ^(A)A prophet named Elijah, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to King Ahab, “In the name of the Lord, the living God of Israel, whom I serve, I tell you that there will be no dew or rain for the next two or three years until I say so.”

The Division of the Rest of the Land

18 After they had conquered the land, the entire community of Israel assembled at Shiloh and set up the Tent of the Lord's presence.

² He brought a famine on the people, and many of them died because of his persistence. ³ Speaking in the name of the Lord, he kept the rain from coming, and on three occasions he called down fire.
