Baasha rested with his ancestors and was buried in Tirzah. His son Elah became king in his place. But through the prophet Jehu(A) son of Hanani the word of the Lord also had come against Baasha and against his house because of all the evil he had done in the Lord’s sight. His actions angered the Lord, and Baasha’s house became like the house of Jeroboam, because he had struck it down.(B)

In the twenty-sixth year of Judah’s King Asa, Elah son of Baasha became king over Israel, and he reigned in Tirzah(C) two years.

Baasha rested with his ancestors and was buried in Tirzah.(A) And Elah his son succeeded him as king.

Moreover, the word of the Lord came(B) through the prophet Jehu(C) son of Hanani to Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger by the things he did, becoming like the house of Jeroboam—and also because he destroyed it.
