³ He committed all the sins his father had done before him; his heart was not fully devoted^(A) to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his forefather had been.

⁴³ In everything he followed the ways of his father Asa^(A) and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord. The high places,^(B) however, were not removed, and the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.^[a]

¹⁷ Although he did not remove the high places from Israel, Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord all his life.

¹⁸ He brought into the temple of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.^(A)
