6 Solomon did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, and unlike his father David, he did not remain loyal to the Lord.
7 At that time, Solomon built a high place(A) for Chemosh,(B) the abhorrent idol of Moab, and for Milcom,[a](C) the abhorrent idol of the Ammonites, on the hill across from Jerusalem.(D) 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who were burning incense and offering sacrifices to their gods.

6 So Solomon did evil(A) in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.
7 On a hill east(B) of Jerusalem, Solomon built a high place for Chemosh(C) the detestable god of Moab, and for Molek(D) the detestable god of the Ammonites. 8 He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices to their gods.
