For when Solomon was old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, so that his heart was not [a]perfect with the Lord his God as was the heart of David his father.

For Solomon followed (A)Ashtoreth the god of the Sidonians, and [b]Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

So Solomon wrought wickedness in the sight of the Lord, but continued not to follow the Lord, as did David his father.

As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods,(A) and his heart was not fully devoted(B) to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been. He followed Ashtoreth(C) the goddess of the Sidonians, and Molek(D) the detestable god of the Ammonites. So Solomon did evil(E) in the eyes of the Lord; he did not follow the Lord completely, as David his father had done.
