New Matthew Bible
6 He who says he abides in him ought to walk even as he walked.
7 Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but that old commandment that you heard from the beginning. The old commandment is the word that you heard from the beginning. 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, a thing that is true in him and also in you. For the darkness is past and the true light now shines.

6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.(A)
7 Dear friends,(B) I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning.(C) This old command is the message you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command;(D) its truth is seen in him and in you, because the darkness is passing(E) and the true light(F) is already shining.(G)
