5 But (A)whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God [a]is perfected (B)in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 (C)He who says he abides in Him (D)ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
7 [b]Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had (E)from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard [c]from the beginning.

7 Dear friends,(E) I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning.(F) This old command is the message you have heard.
