5 [a]But he that keepeth his word, in him is the [b]love of God perfect indeed: hereby we know that we are in [c]him.
6 [d]He that saith he remaineth in him, ought even so to walk as he hath walked.
7 [e]Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment, which ye have had from the beginning: this old commandment is that word, which ye have heard from the beginning.

- 1 John 2:5 He that keepeth God’s commandments loveth God indeed. He that loveth God, is in God, or is joined together with God. Therefore he that keepeth his commandments, is in him.

5 But if anyone obeys his word,(A) love for God[a] is truly made complete in them.(B) This is how we know(C) we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.(D)
7 Dear friends,(E) I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning.(F) This old command is the message you have heard.
