²⁵ Now everyone who competes exercises self-control^(A) in everything. However, they do it to receive a crown^(B) that will fade away,^(C) but we a crown that will never fade away.

⁸ There is reserved for me in the future the crown^(A) of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge,^(B) will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.^(C)

⁴ And when the chief Shepherd^(A) appears, you will receive the unfading crown^(B) of glory.

¹⁰ Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the Devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will have affliction for 10 days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown^[a] of life.

¹¹ I am coming quickly. Hold on to what you have,^(A) so that no one takes your crown.
