7 For I would that all men were even as myself: but every one hath his proper gift from God; one after this manner, and another after that.
8 But I say to the unmarried, and to the widows: It is good for them if they so continue, even as I.

6 I say this as a concession, not as a command.(A) 7 I wish that all of you were as I am.(B) But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.(C)
8 Now to the unmarried[a] and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I do.(D)
