3 I cannot be there with you in person, but I am with you in spirit. And I have already judged the man who did this. I judged him the same as I would if I were really there. 4 Come together in the name of our Lord Jesus. I will be with you in spirit, and you will have the power of our Lord Jesus with you. 5 Then turn this man over to Satan. His sinful self[a] has to be destroyed so that his spirit will be saved on the day when the Lord comes again.

3 For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit.(A) As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus(B) on the one who has been doing this. 4 So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, 5 hand this man over(C) to Satan(D) for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.(E)
