My body is not there with you, but my spirit is with you. It seems like I am present with you. So I have already decided about this man. This is how you should punish him for what he has done. You have the authority of the Lord Jesus to do this. When you meet together as a group, my spirit will be with you. The power of our Lord Jesus will also be with you. When you meet, put this man under Satan's authority. Satan will then destroy the man's body. Then God may save the man's spirit on the day when the Lord Jesus returns.

For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit.(A) As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus(B) on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over(C) to Satan(D) for the destruction of the flesh,[a][b] so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.(E)
