³⁴ The women are to ^(A)keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but ^(B)are to subject themselves, just as ^(C)the Law also says. ³⁵ But if they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home, for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in church. ^36 [a]Was it from you that the word of God first went forth? Or has it arrived to you only?

^37 (D)If anyone thinks he is a prophet or ^(E)spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you ^(F)are the Lord’s commandment. ³⁸ But if anyone remains ignorant about this, he ^[b]is ignored by God.

³⁹ Therefore, my brothers, ^(G)earnestly desire to ^(H)prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues. ⁴⁰ But ^(I)all things must be done properly and in an orderly manner.

⁵ to be sensible, pure, ^(A)workers at home, kind, being ^(B)subject to their own husbands, ^(C)so that the word of God will not be slandered.
