5 Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for (A)they were laid low in the wilderness.
6 Now these things happened as (B)examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as (C)they also craved. 7 Do not be (D)idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written, “(E)The people sat down to eat and drink, and stood up to (F)play.”

6 Now these things occurred as examples(B) to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters,(C) as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”[a](D)
