1 Corinthians 10:5-7

5 They all received the same help from God, but most of them did not please God. God caused most of them to die in the wilderness.[a]
6 We must learn from those things that happened to our ancestors. We must not want to do very bad things, like they did. 7 Do not worship idols, as some of them did. The Bible says: ‘The people sat down to eat and to drink. After that, they got up from their meal and they danced.’[b]

New International Version
5 Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.(A)
6 Now these things occurred as examples(B) to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 7 Do not be idolaters,(C) as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry.”[a](D)
