³¹ These are the men David put in charge of the music in the Lord’s temple^(A) after the ark came to rest there.^(B)

The Levitical Musicians

25 David and the officers of the army also set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman,^(A) and Jeduthun, who were to prophesy^(B) accompanied by lyres, harps, and cymbals.^(C) This is the list of the men who performed their service:

⁶ All these men were under their own fathers’ authority for the music in the Lord’s temple, with cymbals, harps, and lyres for the service of God’s temple. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the king’s authority.

²⁵ Hezekiah stationed the Levites in the Lord’s temple with cymbals, harps, and lyres^(A) according to the command of David,^(B) Gad the king’s seer,^(C) and the prophet Nathan.^(D) For the command was from the Lord through his prophets. ²⁶ The Levites stood with the instruments of David,^(E) and the priests with the trumpets.^(F)

²⁴ The heads of the Levites—Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua son of Kadmiel, along with their relatives opposite them—gave praise and thanks, division by division, as David the man of God had prescribed.^(A)

⁴⁵ They performed the service of their God and the service of purification, along with the singers and gatekeepers,^(A) as David and his son Solomon had prescribed.^(B)
