Judah. ³ The sons of Judah^[a] were: Er, Onan, and Shelah; these three Bathshua, a Canaanite woman, bore to him. But Judah’s firstborn, Er, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, so he took his life.^(A)

⁵ Then she bore still another son, whom she named Shelah. She was in Chezib^[a] when she bore him.^(A)

¹² The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah—but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan; and the sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.^(A)

²⁰ The descendants of Judah by their clans were: through Shelah, the clan of the Shelahites; through Perez, the clan of the Perezites; through Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites.
